Hi guys, as you know I always enjoy trying out different kind of papers & review them for you. This time Strathmore kindly sent me their Ready Cut Watercolor Hot Press Paper. Its a 100% cotton, acid free, 300gr, professional paper.

Please bear in mind that in this review I will express my personal opinion. In the end liking one paper over another is a matter of personal preference & also depends on the type of art you do. For me, I always go for a hot pressed because it works well for detailed illustrations and I find it easier to work with.

So here is my personal opinion on this paper:

I love the fact that this paper is very resistant and even if it slightly buckled while I was painting, once it dried out the buckle disappeared.

This paper has good absorbency and I found it soaked wet paint very quickly.

I also love that Strathmore paper is cheaper then most European brands. As you know watercolour paper can be quite pricey. So perhaps if you are just getting started with watercolour you may want to check this brand out. The only thing I didn’t like about this paper is that it’s not smooth enough for me. I always use fineliners to finish my artwork and the texture of this paper made it difficult for me to achieve precise lines.

Wear flowers on your face

ZuiiOrganic

Wear flowers on your face. What a wonderful motto for a company that produces natural make up. ZuiiOrganic cosmetics are actually made from flowers (how amazing is that?), they are also certified organic, cruelty free and chemicals free. I have to admit that I have been pretty fascinated with this brand as I had never heard of a company using rose buds, chamomile and Jasmine flowers (among others) as ingredients in their cosmetics. This floral component is precisely what inspired me to create this fun and colorful illustration. You may have noticed at this point that I’m a lover and supporter of all things natural especially when it comes to products that I put on my body. I love products that nurture and improve the health of my skin, and that’s why I was really excited at the idea of doing a collaboration with Zuii Organic. Below is a picture of the beautiful make up they sent me, how stunning are those colors? I also shot a couple of photos of the making of my illustration…enjoy it!
